NEWS: The Los Angeles Kings announced late Monday that they will retire Robitaille's No. 20 jersey in a ceremony in January 2007 at Staples Center. Robitaille will join Rogie Vachon, Marcel Dionne, Dave Taylor and Wayne Gretzky as Kings players to have their jerseys retired. The former Kings left wing is scheduled to be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame before the Kings game against the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan. 20, 2007.
NOTES: Robitaille, 40, is the highest scoring left wing in NHL history and the Kings' leader in goals scored. He announced his retirement at the end of last season with 726 career goals and 795 assists in 1,590 games.
Sean Avery (Center) 7/24/2006
NEWS: The Kings re-signed Avery to a one-year contract Monday.
NOTES: Avery played in 75 games with Los Angeles last season and had 15 goals and 24 assists. For the second straight year, he led the NHL in penalty minutes, posting 257. The 26-year-old center has 32 goals, 54 assists and 739 penalty minutes in 238 career games with the Detroit Red Wings and Kings.
Eric Belanger (Center) 7/19/2006
NEWS: The Kings signed Belanger to a one-year contract Wednesday, avoiding salary arbitration with the 28-year-old center. Belanger had career highs in goals (17), points (37) and penalty minutes (62) for Los Angeles this past season. His 20 assists tied his previous high.
NOTES: Selected by the Kings as the 96th overall pick in the 1996 NHL entry draft, Belanger has spent his entire career with Los Angeles. He has 63 goals and 87 assists in 323 games.
Mathieu Garon (Goaltender) 7/17/2006
NEWS: Garon accepted his qualifying offer on Monday and signed a one-year deal worth $1.216 million to stay with the Kings. He was chosen as the NHL defensive player of the month in December when he was 9-3 and allowed three goals or fewer in 11 of 12 starts.
NOTES: The 28-year-old Garon went 31-26-3 record with a 3.22 goals-against average and .894 save percentage last season, his first in Los Angeles. In 106 NHL games with the Kings and Montreal Canadiens, Garon is 47-46-3.
Mike Weaver (Defense) 7/8/2006
NEWS: The Kings re-signed Weaver to a one-year, $500,000 contract on Friday. The defenseman was a restricted free agnt. He had nine assists and 14 penalty minutes in a career-high 53 games for Los Angeles last season. He has yet to score a goal in 110 career games.
Brian Willsie (Right Wing) 7/5/2006
NEWS: Willsie agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. The unrestricted free-agent forward had 19 goals, 22 assists, 41 points and 77 penalty minutes, all career highs, for Washington last season. He was the only player on the Capitals to play in all 82 regular-season games.
NOTES: Willsie, who played his first three seasons for Colorado, has 36 goals and 35 assists in 200 career games spanning five seasons.
Dan Cloutier (Goaltender) 7/5/2006
NEWS: Los Angeles acquired Cloutier from Vancouver on Wednesday for two draft picks. The 30-year-old goaltender was 8-3-1 with a 3.17 goals-against average last season before sustaining a season-ending knee injury on Nov. 20. He is under contract for next season at $2.5 million and will become an unrestricted free agent if the Kings cannot re-sign him.
NOTES: Cloutier is 131-124-33 with a 2.66 GAA in 318 career games spanning eight seasons, including the last five with the Canucks.
Alyn McCauley (Center) 7/2/2006
NEWS: The Los Angeles Kings agreed to terms on a three-year contract Sunday with McCauley, who was slowed by a knee injury for most of the San Jose Sharks' playoff run. "I was impressed with how the Kings organization, (general manager) Dean Lombardi and (coach) Marc Crawford in particular, pursued me," McCauley said in a statement. "The Kings have a real commitment to win and to win now."
NOTES: McCauley had 12 goals, 14 assists and 30 penalty minutes in 76 regular-season games for the Sharks last season, but had just one assist in six playoff games. The 29-year-old veteran was a finalist for the 2003-04 Selke Trophy that goes to the NHL's top defensive forward.
Scott Thornton (Left Wing) 6/22/2006
NEWS: San Jose declined the option on Thornton on Wednesday, allowing the 35-year-old left wing to become a free agent. The option was worth more than $1.5 million, but the Sharks declined to pick it up and then trade him to another team. Thornton _ the cousin of Sharks center Joe Thornton, the NHL scoring champion _ had 21 points for San Jose last season.
NOTES: Thornton was the Sharks' oldest player last season. He's also played for Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal and Dallas in his 15-year career.
Michael Cammalleri (Center) 4/18/2006
NEWS: Cammalleri had a goal and an assist in the Kings' 4-0 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday in the regular-season finale.
NOTES: Cammalleri capped a career year in a nice way, notching his team-high 26th goal and 29th assist in his 80th game. The 23-year-old Los Angeles center entered this season with just 14 goals and nine assists in 59 contests in his first two years.
Aaron Miller (Defense) 4/13/2006
NEWS: Miller underwent hip surgery to remove a bone spur and repair a torn labrum on Wednesday. The Kings' defenseman, who has missed the last seven games, has no goals and eight assists in 56 games this season.

Mathieu Garon (Goaltender) 4/4/2006
NEWS: Garon made 23 saves for his second straight shutout and eighth of his career in the Kings' 1-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday. The back-to-back blankings were Los Angeles' first since Dec. 10-11, 2002.
NOTES: Garon's play has been suspect at times this season, but he did improve to 10-7-0 with a 3.34 goals-against average in his last 17 games. Over that span, the 28-year-old Los Angeles goaltender was pulled from three contests and allowed more than four goals nine times. Overall, Garon is 31-22-3 with a 3.12 GAA in 2005-06.

NEWS: Blake scored twice, including the game-tying goal with 57 seconds left in the third period of the Avalanche's 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.
NOTES: Blake, whose second goal made him just the 17th defenseman in NHL history to score 200, had not registered a multiple-goal game since Dec. 23, 2002, when he scored twice and added an assist in Colorado's 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks. The 36-year-old has 636 points in 977 career games.
Alexander Frolov (Left Wing) 3/26/2006
NEWS: Frolov scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the Kings' 6-4 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday. It was Frolov's first game back from a partially separated shoulder. The 23-year-old missed 10 games after suffering the injury playing for Russia at the Olympics.
NOTES: Frolov has scored 21 goals and has posted career highs in assists (31) and points (52) in 58 games for the Kings this season.
Craig Conroy (Center) 3/15/2006
NEWS: Conroy was struck in the face with a puck during the Kings' 4-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Monday. The impact caused blood to pool behind his eye, which is similar to the injury suffered by teammate Pavol Demitra. There is no timetable for Conroy's return and he is listed as day-to-day.
NOTES: Conroy is second on the Kings with 40 assists and 59 points in 65 games this season.
Tim Jackman (Right Wing) 3/9/2006
NEWS: The Phoenix Coyotes traded Jackman Thursday to the Los Angeles Kings for rookie center Yanick Lahoux. Jackman, a 24-year-old winger, hadn't picked up a point in eight games with the Coyotes this season. In 50 games with San Antonio, he recorded 7 goals, 20 points and 127 penalty minutes.
Brent Sopel (Defense) 3/8/2006
NEWS: Sopel and New York Islanders teammate Mark Parrish were traded to Los Angeles on Wednesday for two prospects. Sopel sat out Tuesday's game with a bruised knee, but it was not expected to be a serious injury. In his first season in New York, the defenseman had two goals and 25 assists in 57 games.
