Eric Staal
Staal signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract Saturday that will keep him with the Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes through 2009. "There was no thoughts of going anywhere else," the 21-year-old Staal said. "I won a championship there. It's what you strive for every year and we've got a great group of players, and I want to be there."

Analysis: Staal more than tripled his production this season for Carolina -- scoring 100 points in 82 games after registering just 31 as a rookie in 2003-04 -- to finish seventh in the NHL in points and eighth in goals with 45.
