Teppo Numminen
Numminen will stay in Buffalo after agreeing to a one-year contract with the Sabres on Monday. The 38-year-old defenseman received a raise over the $2 million he made last season, when he joined the Sabres as a free agent. Numminen has been cleared to play after undergoing surgery last week to correct an irregular heartbeat.

Analysis: Numminen, a 17-year veteran, had two goals and 38 assists during the 2005-06 season and added a goal and an assist in 12 postseason games. He has 113 goals and 478 assists in 1,235 career games.
