LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -Carol Sensley resigned as the women's coach at McNeese State on Saturday.

``My health is the most important thing right now and that is why I am resigning for medical reasons,'' Sensley said in announcing her resignation after the Cowgirls' 66-54 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. ``This is the best decision for me and my family.''

Assistant coach Freddie Murray, in his second season with McNeese State, was appointed as the interim head coach.

Sensley, who did not elaborate on her health difficulties, was in her sixth season with the Cowgirls and had a 51-101 record. She led her team into the Southland Conference postseason tournament three times, reaching the semifinals in 2005.
