LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -Carol Sensley took a medical leave of absence on Saturday and relinquished her duties as women's coach at McNeese State.
``My health is the most important thing right now,'' Sensley said in announcing her decision after the Cowgirls' 66-54 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. ``This is the best decision for me and my family.''
Assistant coach Freddie Murray, in his second season with McNeese State, was appointed as the interim head coach.
Sensley, who did not elaborate on her health difficulties, was in her sixth season with the Cowgirls and had a 51-101 record. She led her team into the Southland Conference postseason tournament three times, reaching the semifinals in 2005.
