WACO, Texas (AP) - Sophia Young welcomed the chance to get a little rest.
After averaging more than 37 minutes in Baylor's first three games, Young played only 29 minutes against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She made the most of her time, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead No. 5 Baylor to a 92-64 win Tuesday night.
``It was good to get a break,'' she said. ``It was exciting to sit down and watch the others play and see what they can do.''
Jhasmine Player came off the bench and scored 16 points, while Latoya Wyatt added 15 points and Angela Tisdale 14 as Baylor (4-0) extended its winning streak to 24 games.
``The best thing about tonight was that everybody got to play double minutes,'' Baylor coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said.
Ahead 58-45 five minutes into the second half, Baylor put together a 14-2 run and put the game out-of-reach at 72-47.
Young scored her final four points during the stretch, and Player connected on a one-and-one opportunity to cap the run.
Terra Andrews had 31 points to lead the Islanders (0-2). Elisa Beagle added 12.
Baylor's tenacious defense forced Texas A&M-Corpus Christi into 26 turnovers with the Lady Bears converting them into 38 points.
Baylor took a 20-8 lead with just under 13 minutes remaining in the first half on Angela Tisdale's 3-pointer. Young scored 15 first-half points as Baylor built a 48-33 halftime advantage.
``We knew Baylor was strong, and Sophia Young is an outstanding player,'' A&M-Corpus Christi coach Jodi Kest said. ``But we want our kids to play the best, and anything can always happen.''
