No. 5 Baylor 72, McNeese St. 36

WACO, Texas (AP) - Fifth-ranked Baylor picked up right where it left off after an 11-day break for final exams with a 72-36 victory over McNeese State on Tuesday night.

``Everybody got a lot of minutes, the main players got a lot of rest, and we won,'' coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said.

Abiola Wabara scored 15 points and Jessica Morrow added 14 to lead Baylor as the defending national champions extended their winning streak to 28 games.

Sophia Young added 13 points and Jordan Davis had 10 for the Lady Bears (8-0).

Baylor dominated the inside game, outscoring the Cowgirls (3-5) 46-24 in the paint.

``I just went out and played,'' Wabara said. ``I created most of my points by driving.''

Baylor played without Angela Tisdale, who was suspended for three games for an unspecified violation of team rules. She averaged 15.7 points and 7.3 assists per game over the first seven games.

Tisdale sat on the Baylor bench in street clothes.

``You miss her,'' Mulkey-Robertson said. ``We understand we have to go on without her, and I thought everyone responded and did just fine.''

Leading 44-20 early in the second half, Baylor went on an 18-6 run to put the game out of reach at 62-26 with just under 8 minutes to play. Davis had 10 points in the run.

Regina Spivey paced McNeese State (3-5) with 11 points.

``They have so many weapons,'' Cowgirls coach Carol Sensley said. ``Their inside game with Abiola Wabara and Sophia Young, anytime it goes in there, you know they're going to get something.''

The Lady Bears used a 22-3 run to take a 26-7 lead with just under 6 minutes left in the first half. Wabara and Morrow each had 10 points as Baylor took a 36-15 halftime lead.
