HOUSTON (AP) - Nakazi Reed had 21 points to lead the University of Houston in a 92-58 win over Southern Miss on Sunday.
Ryan Meyers had 19, Tye Jackson had 15 and Emily Fryters contributed 12 points for the Cougars (5-8, 2-0 Conference USA).
Kendra Reed and Ashley Harrell led Southern Miss (4-10, 1-2 USA) with 15 points each.
Houston opened the game scoring the first 14 points before Southern Miss scored a single basket at the 16:06 mark on its seventh possession.
Southern Miss was able to cut the lead to eight points, 16-8, at the 13:48 mark.
The Cougars then went on a 21-5 run, pushing their lead to 24 points, 37-13.
Houston finished with an 18-8 run for a 54-21 lead at the half.
Houston scored 26 off 17 Lady Eagle turnovers.
Southern Miss finished the game shooting 28.3 percent from the field, but shot 82.6 percent from the line.
Houston finished the game shooting 54.1 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point range and 73.1 percent from the line.
The Cougars outrebounded Southern Mississippi 43-33.
