CINCINNATI (AP) - Candice Dupree scored 22 points and No. 21 Temple overcame a record-setting performance by Tara Boothe to beat Xavier 67-62 Sunday.
Dupree, the Owls' leading scorer and reigning Atlantic 10 player of the week, added eight rebounds to lead Temple to its fourth straight win.
Temple (14-4, 5-1) also got 19 points from Kamesha Hairston and 15 from Lady Comfort.
Boothe scored 30 points and set Xavier's scoring record with the first of two free throws about a minute into the second half, eclipsing Jo Ann Osterkamp's 22-year-old mark of 2,036 points. Her second free throw gave Xavier (12-6, 3-4) a 36-29 lead.
After Comfort hit a jumper in the lane to make it 36-33, Xavier scored the next five points to open a 54-45 lead with 9:58 left. But layups by Dupree and Fatima Hairston started a 16-2 run that gave the Owls a 61-56 lead with 5:54 left.
Dupree gave the Owls the lead for good with only the second 3-pointer of her career. The reigning conference defensive player of the year also blocked five shots.
