PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Kamesha Hairston scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half to lead No. 17 Temple to an 85-50 rout of Massachusetts on Sunday.
Khadija Bowens added 19 points and eight assists for the Owls (15-5, 6-2 Atlantic 10), who opened the second half with an 18-7 run. Candice Dupree and Fatima Maddox added 14 points each for Temple.
Kate Mills led Massachusetts (6-14, 3-6) with 16 points and Pam Rosanio had 13.
Temple made four of its first five shots and led 32-21 at halftime.
Hairston opened the second half with five straight points and Dupree had consecutive three-point plays during the Owls' decisive run after the break. Bowens' fast-break layup on an assist from Dupree capped the run and gave Temple a commanding 50-28 lead with 14:51 left.
Temple, coming off a 65-64 loss to unranked St. Joseph's on Friday night, has won five of six. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for UMass.
The Owls shot 50.7 percent from the field and were 10-for-15 from 3-point range.
