CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Renee Taylor scored 21 points and Melissa Knight added 15 to lead Miami to a 77-62 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday.

The Hurricanes never trailed after opening the game with a 20-4 spurt. Tamara James scored six points and Taylor had five during the run.

Miami (14-6, 4-3 ACC) maintained a double-digit lead and let Virginia Tech get no closer than 72-60 on Kirby Copeland's layup with 2:13 remaining in the second half.

The loss extended Virginia Tech's winless streak to four. Carrie Mason, Dawn Chriss and Kerri Gardin each scored 14 points to lead the Hokies (14-5, 1-5).
