RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Araceli Gil hit two free throws with .4 seconds left to lift Richmond over No. 19 Temple 56-54 Sunday.

Mirna Mazic led Richmond (10-14, 5-7 Atlantic 10) with 18 points. Amber Petillon had 12 and Saona Chapman added 11.

Temple (18-6, 9-3 Atlantic 10) led 23-15 at halftime and by as many as 11 in the second half.

Mazic's two free throws with 10:08 remaining started a string of 12 consecutive points from the reserve. Her layup with 7:34 remaining sparked a 14-4 run that tied the score at 54-all with 36 seconds left.

Kamesha Hairston missed a jumper and Gil got the rebound before calling a timeout. She was fouled with less than a second left and sank both shots.

Hairston and Khadija Bowens each scored 12 for Temple, and Candice Dupree and Fatima Maddox added 11 apiece. Lady Comfort had 11 rebounds.

Richmond controlled the paint, outscoring Temple 30-14. Mazic led the Spiders' reserves, who outscored their Olws counterparts 26-0.

It was the first time Richmond defeated a ranked team since a win at No. 18 Maryland on Nov. 28, 1990.
