DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Mistie Williams wasn't sure she wanted her father, Chubby Checker, to sing the national anthem before her last game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Williams and Monique Currie scored 14 points apiece to lead No. 1 Duke's 93-51 rout of Virginia Tech on Wednesday night.

``I hadn't actually heard my dad sing in a long time,'' Williams said of Checker, who made ``The Twist'' a hit song and dance move in the 1960s. ``The last time he sang the national anthem here, we lost. But it was nice tonight to hear him sing and then for us to win.''

Laura Kurz had 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field, and Abby Waner and Jessica Foley added 10 apiece for the Blue Devils (25-1, 12-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who led from the start.

Williams, Currie and Foley improved to 121-11 in their four years at Duke.

``This team has always played together well,'' Blue Devils coach Gail Goestenkors said. ``They've always been unselfish. It starts with the senior leadership. They could take 20 shots a game but they don't, and they make sure everyone gets involved.''

The Blue Devils had 24 assists, shot 61 percent from the floor (39-for-64) and scored 30 points off the Hokies' 23 turnovers.

``It may have looked easy, but it wasn't,'' Williams said. ``We had to work hard, and there were definitely points in the game that we could improve on.''

Dawn Chriss scored 12 points to lead Virginia Tech (18-8, 5-8), which lost by its biggest margin of the season and worst in two years in the ACC. Kerri Gardin had 11 rebounds as the Hokies lost for the second time in three games.

``I don't think we played very well or very poised,'' Virginia Tech's Beth Dunkenberger said. ``I thought they got some easy looks at the basket and shot the ball very well, especially in the first half.''

The only thing that pleased Dunkenberger was Virginia Tech's 41-34 edge in rebounds, including a 26-10 advantage off the offensive boards.

``I thought we played hard, and that was evidenced by 26 offensive rebounds,'' Dunkenberger said. But I don't think we played particularly smart or particularly well together.''

Dunkenberger pointed to Duke's 11 blocks, seven of them by Alison Bales.

``We've got to understand that if it's not a foul or being called a foul, then we need to be making one more pass, and that goes back to being smart,'' Dunkenberger said.

Foley said the easy win didn't have a ``last game'' feel to it.

``It's sad to have a last game in Cameron, but it didn't feel much like 'Senior Night' because there is so much more to go,'' Foley said. ``We haven't thought about the end, yet.''

Duke closes its regular season Saturday at No. 2 North Carolina in a game that will decide the top seed in next week's Atlantic Coast Conference tournament, and likely the No. 1 ranking.
