RENO, Nev. (AP) - Aarica Ray-Boyd scored 18 points and Tasha Williams added 17 to lead No. 13 Louisiana Tech to an 80-57 victory over Idaho on Wednesday night in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference tournament.
Ty Moore had 13 points and Shan Moore finished with 12 as the top-seeded Lady Techsters (24-4) were the only higher-seeded team to advance to the second round.
Leilani Mitchell led the Vandals (10-19) with 21 points and Emily Faurholt added 14.
Louisiana Tech committed 20 turnovers, but made up for it by forcing Idaho into 23 and outrebounding the Vandals 39-17.
The Lady Techsters built a 42-24 halftime lead, but the Vandals pulled to 60-50 on Faurholt's three-point play with 7:48 left.
However, Louisiana Tech sealed the win with a 12-3 run, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers by Ray-Boyd and Williams that gave the Lady Techsters a 72-53 lead with 4:50 to play.
Idaho stayed close early, but Tech went on a 25-6 run that started with Amber Metoyer's 4-foot jumper that broke a 12-12 tie with 12:51 left in the first half. The Lady Techsters got scoring from seven different players during the run, with Margaret DeCiman and Ty Moore each getting six points.
