BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -Whitney Connolly scored a game-high 21 points and had seven rebounds as Montana State beat Cal State Fullerton 86-63 Friday night in the opening round of the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic.
Montana State (2-2) will play North Dakota State in Saturday's championship game.
After giving up the first three points of the game, Montana State went on a 17-6 run to take a 17-9 advantage with 10:28 left in the first half.
MSU led Fullerton (1-4) 42-24 at halftime.
In the second half, the Bobcats shot 61 percent from the field, connecting on 19-of-31 from the floor. MSU built its largest lead at 61-35 with 10:24 remaining following a Scotta Morton basket.
Cal State Fullerton closed to within 76-60 with 4:06 left, but MSU answered with a 10-3 run to secure the victory.
Krislyn Wallace scored 16 points for the Bobcats, while Nubia Garcia and Rebecca Mercer each added 13. Cal State Fullerton was led by Toni Thomas with 16 points.
