HOUSTON (AP) -Victoria Lucas-Perry scored 21 points to lead No. 17 Michigan State past winless Houston 68-55 on Sunday.

Playing on the road for the first time, the Spartans (4-1) led by 14 but cold shooting in the second half kept the game close.

Aisha Jefferson added 17 points and 15 rebounds, and Rene Haynes scored 13 for Michigan State. Sha'Ratta Hawkins led Houston (0-4) with 16 points.

Michigan State missed eight of its first nine and 10 of 15 and committed six turnovers during the first 12 1/2 minutes of the second half. Houston missed its first six, and Michigan State expanded its seven-point halftime lead by only a point to 54-46.

The Spartans jumped to a 15-1 lead the first 3 1/2 minutes as Houston committed four turnovers and missed all three of its shots. With Hawkins hitting 5 of 11 first-half shots, Houston came back to within 38-32 with 2:07 left in the half.

Michigan State led 41-34 at halftime behind Lucas-Perry's 17 points.
