GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -Caprice Smith saved DePaul from a second-half meltdown.
Smith's runner in the lane with 0.4 left lifted the No. 17 Blue Demons to a 71-70 win over a pesky Wisconsin-Green Bay team on Wednesday night.
The shot capped a stellar offensive night for Smith, who went inside and outside to finish with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting along with 11 rebounds.
The Phoenix (3-3) nearly completed a comeback from a 15-point second-half deficit, as Natalie Berglin's steal and breakaway layup with 10 seconds left gave Wisconsin-Green Bay a 70-69 lead, its first since early in the first half.
The Blue Demons took more than half of their field goal attempts from the 3-point arc, finishing 12-of-36 from long range.
DePaul (4-1) had two chances to win the game. But the Blue Demons' first game-winning attempt was blocked before Smith took the inbound pass with 3.6 seconds remaining, split the defenders and hit a 12-footer.
Jenna Rubino added 13 points and 10 rebounds, Allie Quigley had 20 points and Missy Mitidiero chipped in 12 for DePaul.
Wisconsin-Green Bay's Amanda Popp scored 19 points, Berglin added 16 and Nicole Soulis had 13.
