STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) -Whitney Allen grabbed 14 rebounds and No. 21 George Washington had four players score in double figures in a 68-55 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.

(AP Photo/Paul Hawthorne)Kenan Cole and Sarah-Jo Lawrence had 13 points apiece, and Kimberly Beck and Jessica Adair each scored 12 for George Washington. Allen added seven points, four steals, three assists and a block for the Colonials (7-1), who are off to their best start since winning 11 of 12 to open the 1994-95 season.

Jessica Smith had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Stony Brook (2-3), and Mykeema Ford added 14, but the Seawolves couldn't overcome 23 turnovers.

Stony Brook led 23-12 midway through the first, but Lisa Steele, Lawrence and Cole hit 3-pointers to spark a 19-6 run by the Colonials, who led 31-29 at the break.

The Seawolves stayed with George Washington early in the second half, but the Colonials pulled away on six straight fast-break points, opening a 55-45 lead midway through the half.
