ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) -Krystal Ellis scored 17 points and No. 24 Marquette played suffocating defense in a 64-51 victory over Oakland on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (9-1) won their eighth straight and gave coach Terri Mitchell her 200th victory in 11 years at the school. Marquette held the Golden Grizzlies to 31 percent from the floor and outrebounded them 49-29.
Oakland (4-5) had its modest two-game winning streak snapped, failing to put together any consistent offense.
Christina Quaye added 13 points for Marquette, while Danielle Kamm had 11.
Jessica Pike led Oakland with 15 points, including a half-court 3-pointer at the final buzzer. Nicole Piggott and April Ellis had 10 each.
The Golden Grizzles kept the game close in the first half despite shooting just 30 percent, but Quaye's nine points and Kamm's eight were enough to give Marquette a 32-24 lead at the intermission.
The Golden Eagles shut Oakland down entirely in the second half, as the Golden Grizzlies missed 18 of their first 21 field-goal attempts. That allowed Marquette to build a 53-34 lead and cruise to the easy victory.
