CINCINNATI (AP) -Michelle Jones had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Cincinnati to a 62-44 victory over No. 24 DePaul on Sunday.
Jones reached double figures in points and rebounds before 5 minutes were gone in the second half and led Cincinnati to a 45-21 rebounding advantage. The Bearcats (11-5, 2-3 Big East) had 15 second-chance points to none for DePaul.
Treasure Humphries had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Carla Jacobs added 14 for Cincinnati, which beat a Top 25 team for the first time since a 75-59 win over then No. 19 Xavier on Dec. 12, 2000. The Bearcats are 7-44 overall against ranked teams.
Allie Quigley scored 13 points to lead the Blue Demons (11-6, 1-3), who have lost three consecutive games and five of six.
The Blue Demons had just eight players available due to injuries and scored their fewest points in a game since Jan. 23, 2000, when they lost 44-39 at Alabama-Birmingham.
The Bearcats were 0-for-9 on 3-pointers, but limited DePaul to a season-low 20 percent (3-for-15) on 3-pointers.
China Threatt scored eight points during a 14-0 DePaul run that gave the Blue Demons a 20-11 lead with 6:35 left in the first half. Jones, who missed five of her first six shots, made three in a row during a 12-0 Cincinnati burst that gave the Bearcats a 23-20 lead before Caprice Smith made a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in the half for 23-23 tie.
Jones scored eight points and the Bearcats took command with an 18-6 run in the second half that gave them a 43-31 lead with 8:53 left in the game.
