SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) -Candice Wiggins scored 14 points as Stanford opened the second half with a 22-point run and the eighth-ranked Cardinal beat UC Santa Barbara 84-59 Thursday night.
Wiggins finished with 21 points and Brooke Smith added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (19-3), which shot 62.5 percent in the second half and outrebounded the smaller Gauchos 44-25 while extending the nation's third-longest win streak to 17 games.
Stanford also scored the last 10 points of the first half.
``We were disappointed in our first half,'' Wiggins said. ``We wanted to come out in the second half and set the tone. We did that by running, getting easy shots and pushing the ball.''
Stanford had a 50-18 advantage on points in the paint.
Jenna Green led Santa Barbara (11-10) with 14 points.
Jillian Harmon capped Stanford's 22-0 burst with a breakaway layup that gave the Cardinal a 62-27 lead with 14:24 remaining in the game.
