HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -Meredith Alexis had 21 points and 17 rebounds as No. 25 James Madison beat Northeastern 85-63 Sunday for its 14th straight victory.
Alexis extended her career rebound record to 1,211, double-double record to 58 and games rebounding in double figures record to 70. She tied her record of 17 double-doubles in a season.
Alexis wasn't even the top scorer for the Dukes as Tamera Young had 23 points to help James Madison (22-2, 13-0 Colonial Athletic Association) pull away midway through the first half en route to its 24th straight home win.
Young's 3-pointer gave the Dukes a 19-point lead with 14:03 left to play, but Northeastern (3-21, 2-11) went on a 14-2 run that brought them to 57-50 with 10:15 remaining. James Madison answered with a 14-3 run of its own, holding Northeastern without a basket for more than 4 minutes.
Lucia Pablos sank two free throws with 12:06 to play in the first half to pull to 13-11, but Jennifer Brown hit back-to-back jumpers and James Madison scored 10 consecutive points. James Madison didn't let Northeastern get closer than six the rest of the half, taking a 35-23 lead at the break.
James Madison dominated the boards, outrebounding Northeastern 48-22. The Dukes couldn't get anything going beyond the arc, shooting 1-for-9.
Pablos led Northeastern with 20 points. Shaleyse Smallwood and Ashlee Feldman each had 13.
Jasmin Lawrence and Shirley McCall each had 14 points for James Madison.
