CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -Katie Gearlds scored 21 points to lead No. 15 Purdue to a 58-48 victory over Illinois on Sunday.

The Boilermakers (25-5, 14-2 Big Ten) took advantage of 16 Fighting Illini turnovers and shot 45 percent from the field. Purdue finished in second place in the Big Ten behind No. 25 Ohio State, a 72-58 winner over Michigan on Sunday.

Purdue held a 23-20 halftime lead.

Illinois (18-10, 8-8) was hurt by its weak three-point shooting, hitting only two of the 13 shots they took from behind the arc.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton scored 14 points for Purdue.

Jenna Smith led Illinois in scoring with 18 points.

Despite the loss, the Illini earned a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament for the first time in seven seasons.
