DALLAS (AP) -Takia Sparks scored 17 points, and Ashlaa Horton added 15 rebounds as No. 11 Texas A&M rallied to beat SMU 62-57 Friday night.

Texas A&M trailed 36-26 at halftime, but turned it up defensively in the second half of its season opener.

SMU hit only 5-of-27 shots from the field after halftime.

Delisha Wills scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Mustangs, and Janielle Dodds chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Jillian Samuels hit a 3-pointer that gave SMU a 51-48 lead with 6:36 left.

But Texas A&M used a 9-0 surge over the next 2:15 to take the lead for good.

SMU led by as many as 12 points in the first half before taking a 10-point halftime advantage.

The Aggies went on a 13-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half. A'Quonesia Franklin capped the spurt with a 3-pointer that gave Texas A&M a 39-38 lead.

Horton added 10 points for the Aggies.
