RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Khadijah Whittington scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Sunday to lead North Carolina State to a 74-29 beating of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Whittington's 20th career double-double also included tying her career best with six steals. She was 10-for-20 from the field and had eight rebounds for N.C. State in its season opener.

N.C. State improved to 30-4 in season-opening games, including a 29-4 record under coach Kay Yow. The victory also marked the Wolfpack's 28th straight non-conference victory at Reynolds Coliseum.

The 29 points allowed by N.C. State were the fewest by an opponent since a 76-29 win over North Carolina A&T on Dec. 18, 2004.

Whittington hit a turn-around jumper with 2 seconds left in the half to give N.C. State a 40-13 advantage. In the second half, the lead grew to as much as 46 points.

Megan Zullo and Nikitta Gartrell scored 12 points apiece for the Wolfpack, who improved to 12-0 all-time over the Spartans.

Brittany Frazier led UNC-Greensboro's struggling offense with five points. The Spartans set a school record for fewest points scored in a game as they shot only 22.7 percent on 10-of-44 from the floor and committed 29 turnovers.
