CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -Antelia Parrish had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 14 George Washington beat Virginia 70-68 on Monday night.
George Washington trailed for most of the game, but rallied behind Parrish. Her third 3-pointer gave the Colonials the lead for good with 5:30 left. George Washington (2-0) was up six with 1:15 left to play, but the Cavaliers rallied with 3-pointers by Sharnee Zoll and Monica Wright.
Trailing by two with 12 seconds left, Zoll missed a jumper from the top of the key that would have tied the game. Jessica Adair hit two free throws to extend the lead to 69-65 before Lyndra Littles hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left.
After the ensuing foul, Kimberly Beck hit one of two free throws, and Virginia (1-1) couldn't get a tying shot off.
Littles led Virginia with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Aisha Mohammed and Paulisha Kellum added 12 each.
Beck and Sarah-Jo Lawrence each added 14 points for George Washington.
The Cavaliers led 37-34 at the half, and extended the lead to seven with 7:37 left in the game. George Washington then went on a 12-0 run over the next 3 minutes to take the lead.
It was George Washington's first win over Virginia in 11 meetings.
