RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) -Ashley Walker scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and No. 12 California beat UC Riverside 65-49 on Thursday night.

The Golden Bears improved to 2-0, while the Highlanders dropped to 0-3.

Walker became the 18th 1000-point scorer in Cal history. Rama N'diaye had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and led the Bears with four assists. Freshman Kelsey Adrian added 11 points off the bench for Cal.

The Highlanders took a 9-4 lead on two free throws by Seyram Gbewonyo, who finished with 12 points.

N'diaye scored six of Cal's first 11 points in the second half as the Golden Bears went ahead 39-29 with 15:05 left in the game.

Cal returns to Berkeley for its home opener against New Mexico on Sunday.
