CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -Liz Sherwood scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead No. 25 Vanderbilt to a 74-56 victory over Clemson on Tuesday night.
With the game tied at the half, the No. 25 Commodores (3-1) went on a 24-8 run to start the second half, with 11 of those points coming from Sherwood.
Sherwood showed why she entered the game shooting 81.8 percent from the field. Every time the 6-foot-4 senior got the ball close to the basket she scored.
It was quite a contrast from the opening half, where the Commodores raced to a 10-point lead, only to see it go away because of 17 first-half turnovers and watched Clemson (2-3) take a six-point lead.
The teams were tied at 32 at the half.
Clemson entered the game short-handed, having three key players already out for the season with knee injuries. Also, sophomore guard Christy Brown had an injured ankle, while senior guard D'Lesha Lloyd had a bad shoulder. Even so, Lloyd led the Lady Tigers with 17 points.
Sthefany Thomas added 10 points and Morganne Campbell grabbed nine rebounds for Clemson.
Christina Wirth scored 13 points and Jennifer Risper and Jessica Mooney each added 10 points for Vanderbilt.
