NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Kimberly Beck scored 21 points and Jessica Adair added 19 and eight rebounds to lead No. 16 George Washington to a 64-57 win over Samford on Saturday in the Four Points by Sheraton Invitational.
Strong rebounding helped the Colonials offset a 36.7 shooting percentage. Samford hit 40 percent, but George Washington (6-3) had 10 more rebounds - all on offense.
Reserve Savannah Hill scored 15 for Samford (6-2) which got 33 points from bench players.
George Washington led 58-47 with 4:42 left before when Samford went on a 10-2 run that cut the lead to three with 37 seconds left.
Two free throws by Beck and a turnover by Samford helped George Washington secure the win.
