AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -Lisa Steele made a 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining to give No. 20 George Washington a 68-66 win over No. 18 Auburn on Thursday night.
The winning basket was Steele's only shot in just five minutes of play for the Colonials (11-3), who they handed the Tigers (12-3) their second straight loss - the first back-to-back losses for Auburn this season.
Sarah-Jo Lawrence led the Colonials with 18 points while Kimberly Beck had 16 points and seven assists. Jessica Adair added 15 points for George Washington.
Freshman Alli Smalley led Auburn with 17 points. She also added five assists and nine rebounds. Dewanna Bonner had her seventh double-double this season with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Auburn.
Smalley was filling in for starting point guard Whitney Boddie. Boddie and Keke Carrier are both academically ineligible for Auburn. Carrier is out for the season, but Auburn coach Nell Fortner said Boddie's status will be revealed in the next couple of days.
Auburn's biggest struggles came from the free throw line. The Tigers shot only 64.3 percent during the game.
George Washington also was short handed after Erica Rivera hurt her knee in last week's 82-68 victory over Pepperdine.
